Concert
Band Millbrook
High School's Concert Band continues the development
of basic instrumental music skills. Students focus on the fundamentals of
music, correct tone production, balance, intonation, and ensemble playing through
the study of progressively more advanced band literature, with increased technical
accuracy and expression. Aesthetic awareness and technical ability is developed
through a variety of performance opportunities. Participation in after-school
rehearsals and performances is expected. Band
earned a SUPERIOR rating in the 2009 Festival at Carowinds
Symphonic
Band The Symphonic Band will be introduced to Millbrook
High School for the 2008-09 school year. All new students
to the program will audition and be placed either in the
Concert Band, Symphonic Band, or Wind Ensemble based on
their academic/musical ability. The Symphonic Band earned
a SUPERIOR rating in the 2009 Festival at Carowinds, as
well as an EXCELLENT rating at the Dixie Classic Music Festival
in Washington, DC in 2011

Ensemble
Millbrook
High School's premier band, the award-winning Wind Ensemble,
continues its rich tradition under the direction of Millbrook's
Director of Bands, Natalie Kerr. The Symphonic Wind Ensemble
performs Level V/VI music. The Wind Ensemble won a SUPERIOR
rating, as well as the Brass Section Award, Solo Award
and Honor Band Award for the highest score of the Dixie
Classic Music Festival in Washington, DC in 2011
Students
demonstrate a high level of technical proficiency through a variety of advanced
instrumental literature. An understanding of the broad aspects of
music (theory, history, tone production, interpretation) are necessary for success
in this advanced level course. Participation in after-school rehearsals
and performances is expected.
The
Symphonic Wind Ensemble performs Level V/VI music and earned a Superior - 1st
in class - rating at NYC Heritage Festivals in April 2008 and Superior in the
Festival of Music at Carowinds in May 2009.
Students
